Boat and marine finance · $10,000 – $250,000
Marine finance, secured against the vessel
Trailer boats, half cabins, cruisers, jet skis and yachts. Secured against the vessel, structured to the term that suits the asset.
Marine finance works much like vehicle finance: the lender holds security over the vessel, which improves pricing relative to an unsecured loan of the same size.
Be realistic about the running costs. Berthing, insurance, servicing, antifoul and storage add up, and lenders will factor those into affordability alongside the repayment.
What it typically covers
- Trailer boats and half cabins
- Cruisers and flybridge vessels
- Sailing yachts
- Jet skis and personal watercraft
- Private sale purchases
- Refinancing existing marine finance
What you get from us
Secured against the vessel
Marine security generally prices better than an equivalent unsecured loan.
New and used
Used vessels are fundable; age and survey affect the term and the panel.
Private sales handled
We'll walk you through the checks and paperwork lenders require.
Running costs count
Berthing, insurance and servicing are assessed alongside the repayment.
Eligibility
What lenders look at
- You're 18 or over and an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- You have some regular income — from work, self-employment, superannuation, investments or a pension
- You're borrowing an amount you can service comfortably — most of our panel starts around $10,000
- You can comfortably meet the repayments alongside your existing commitments
Every lender on the panel weighs these differently, so none of it is a fixed cut-off — send the enquiry and we'll tell you honestly what is and isn't available. If money is already tight, the National Debt Helpline offers free, independent financial counselling, with nothing to sell you.

Common questions
Before you enquire
Does the age of the boat matter?
Yes. Most lenders set a maximum vessel age at the end of the term, and older vessels may require a survey.
Can I finance a private sale?
Yes, subject to a PPSR check confirming the vessel isn't encumbered, plus verification of the seller and the sale.
Do I need insurance?
Secured marine finance requires comprehensive insurance to be held for the life of the loan.
Can I finance a boat for charter use?
Commercial or charter use is assessed as business lending rather than consumer credit, which changes both the panel and the protections that apply.
